A wise woman realizes that when her own life exists in a full state of physical, emotional, and spiritual awareness, she is able to offer the gift of peace to those she loves the most. She may also sense that even the most difficult of relationships may find an unanticipated usefulness when a life of watchfulness is fully embraced.

Perhaps you have come here with an awareness of your own desperation for renewal and in the hope that you may offer yourself more fully in your intimate life. If so, you are not alone in your journey.

The life of Saint Monica, exemplifies the fruit that comes from a fully surrendered soul. Through her tearful and persistent entreaties before God, she succeeded in bringing her son back to the Christian faith after he had fallen prey to fashionable philosophies and fleshly temptations - a fact to which Saint Augustine gratefully and eloquently attests in his Confessions - and eventually saw the conversion of her very difficult husband, as well.

Looking to the life of St. Monica as a source of inspiration, others have come before you to look for ways to approach watchfulness. They have remained to offer information to others.

The Monica Society of the Sodalitas S. Maria Ægyptiaca:

This site is for intelligent women. It describes a specific approach to patience and spiritual formation in a wide variety of contexts including sexuality. While patience is obviously a spiritual virtue, the information contained here is by no means related to any particular church, religious group, or denomination. It is NOT for those who wish for traditional Biblically based guidance nor for those who are offended by overt discussions of spirituality and sexuality.

This site is NOT suitable for visitors under 21 years of age. It is not suitable for all women or for men. It is maintained and monitored by members of the Sodalitas S. Maria Ægyptiaca who provide information to other women interested in fostering spiritual growth and inner patience. Our members come from and remain active in a diverse body of religious organizations and spiritual communities. Our intention is not to replace or replicate the essential role that a faith community plays in the lives of our members. Our purpose is not to compete with but to nurture and/or restore health to existing relationships including those found in families and faith communities.
